Staying safe when dating

dating safetyOnline dating is a great way to meet potential partners. In fact nowadays,  most people find their partners in this way.

There are however, a few advisory recommendations that we would like you to consider before getting into any situation online.

These include the following:

  • Always meet in a public place.
  • Try to meet during the daytime and in a place where there are other people near.
  • Tell a friend or family member where and when you are going.
  • Always take your phone with you.
  • Don’t share your personal information until you feel comfortable to do so.
  • Avoid giving details about your home or work addresses.
  • Always have a backup plan in case things don’t go as expected.
  • Tell a friend to call you half way through your date to make sure everything is ok.
  • Drink alcohol in moderation to keep a clear mind.
  • Follow your instincts.
  • If something feels uncomfortable, end the date.

Always Remember…

Always act with caution!

Never include your last name, email, home or work address, phone numbers or any other identifying information in your dating profile, such as social media accounts etc. where there may be lots of personal information to hand.

Immediately cease all messages to anyone who begins to pressure you into anything.

Immediately stop messaging anyone who asks you for personal or financial information or attempts to trick you into revealing it and if this happens, always let us know so we can take appropriate action.

Never agree to be picked up at your home.

Anyone can falsify a dating profile. Always use your common sense.
