The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) law which came into effect on 25 May 2018. At this point our Privacy and Cookie policies will remain in place as we firmly believe that people should have full control of their online activities. 2. Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content from other websites. This content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the content on the originating site. Other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We have no control over this and any questions should be sent to that site admin.

We record certain information about you which is classed as ‘sensitive’ information. Neither will we keep or store any of your financial details. We will have no record or knowledge of any of your financial details. All payments to dreamdateuk.co.uk are currently taken via PayPal and we have no control or access to any of the pages where these financial transactions take place. ‘Sensitive personal information’ means information or opinion about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, their political opinions, membership of any political parties, their religious beliefs, philosophical beliefs and sexual preferences or practices. Any sensitive information supplied by you will be used only for purposes it was intended, i.e. for creating a profile. dreamdateuk will only ever use any of your information as allowed by UK and EU law.

4. Why do we collect your personal information?
We are required to collect certain data in order to provide a legally binding service. When you complete any forms on any website your data is stored in a database. This information is required to join the site and create a profile. Any information you give will be maintained in the database that is connected to the forms that you completed. We do not pass this information on to any other parties for any reason. The only 3rd party that we are obliged to pass on any data about you to, sensitive or otherwise, is the police. By becoming a member of dreamdateuk.co.uk you agree that we may use your information to contact you by email or SMS if a phone number is given (when available) about any offers, events, competitions, and related activities that you may find useful as well as other products and services offered by us or any of our associated parties. You may receive Marketing Communications from dreamdateuk or any of our associated companies. After your annual membership has ended, unless you unsubscribe from any of these related services, you may still receive correspondence from them. 10. What information does dreamdateuk.co.uk collect if I decide to join?
When you complete our online registration form, we ask you to provide us with the bare information necessary. This is information about you such as your name, email address, gender, date of birth and location details. You also have the opportunity to provide other details about yourself, but these are optional because you control all data about you in your user profile. You can give as much or as little data as you like. Your personal details are available to you at any time by accessing your Profile page, which gives you the chance to correct, delete or update (other than gender and email address) your information at any time. You must be logged in to do this. Once you have created a Profile, we will automatically track certain information such as your IP and email addresses. For safety and security and to ensure you have the best possible user experience, we require users to verify their accounts (because we want to make sure you are not a robot or a fake profile). We ‘may’ ask for your phone number but don’t worry, this is only to make sure you are real.

11. What information does dreamdateuk.co.uk collect about me if I’m under 18?
Our website is not intended for anyone under the age of 18 (eighteen) therefore children are not eligible to visit our website or use our services. When you sign up to the site you tick the box to confirm to us that you are over the age of 18 years. We implement a zero tolerance policy on under age access and any instances found will be classed as unlawful and in breach of our site access policies and may be referred to the local police. dreamdateuk.co.uk does not knowingly collect any information about anyone under the age of 18. Nor do we knowingly advertise or market to anyone under the age of 18. If you are less than 18 years old, it is illegal for you to submit personal information to us. If we become aware that anyone under the age of 18 has registered with us we will take immediate steps to terminate the given registration details and delete that profile information from the site. This is a serious matter and we carry out this process immediately we discover or are informed that such a profile exists! If we do find the need to delete a profile we may retain the given email and IP address to ensure that the person involved does not try to get around our rules by creating a new profile.

No. We don’t collect any personal information about visitors to our site. If you do visit us without becoming a member, we will place session ID cookies on your computer which expires on your exit from the site.

13. What does dreamdateuk.co.uk collect about me if I use the mobile app?
When you use your mobile or the desktop application (when available), we will collect information about WiFi access points as well as other location information about your longitude and latitude. That information helps us identify your physical location so that it can be displayed and shared with other members choosing to view ‘nearby’ posts. Please note: If you do not want your location to be known, then please do not download the desktop application or use your mobile device when you are on dreamdateuk.co.uk.

14. What’s collected from me if I use dreamdateuk.co.uk’s premium services?
When you pay for premium features, we do not collect or see any of your financial details. All premium features are paid for using PayPal and we do not see or have any access to any of the financial details given and we do not store any payment card details. We offer PayPal as the only payment gateway and only PayPal keeps any record of any transactions you make. PayPal is one of the most secure payment gateways online. When you access dreamdateuk.co.uk or play our games we collect certain technical information about your computer system or mobile device and statistical data about how you play our games. We use this information to improve our site and our games, so that you can increase your enjoyment.

15. Can dreamdateuk.co.uk collect information about me from other sites I use, such as Facebook?
If you have registered on the site by using one of our partner websites, such as the ‘login using Facebook’ option, your profile will be available to all users of the dreamdateuk.co.uk social network whether via our site or our partners websites. 16. Does dreamdateuk.co.uk collect any other personal information about me?
If you contact our Customer Support team via any of the contact options, we will receive your email address as well as the information you send to us to help resolve your query. We will keep records of our communications with you, including any complaints that we receive from you about other users (and from other users about you) however, we will make every attempt to delete this data as quickly as possible (simply to optimise server space) so if you wish to keep a more permanent record for your own use, please make a copy of any messages sent and received. Comments: When a visitor leaves a comments on the site this data is stored in the database to enable it to be displayed on the page. After approval of your comment, your profile picture, if any is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Media: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website. Analytics: Occasionally, but not constantly, we use Google analytics. Cookies will be used for this purpose which include the cookies used by Google analytics for the purpose of analysing the traffic and usage of the site. We may also collect and hold information if you choose to take part in any of the surveys or questionnaires or competitions we offer from time to time. This information will be kept for as long as it is deemed necessary. We may also store and keep information that may not be personal information. This will include information regarding your visits to the website, or how many times you logged in and out etc. It might also include, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, web logs and other communication data. We make every attempt to keep unnecessary data off the site!

17. How long does dreamdateuk retain data for?
We retain any data that you upload for ‘as long as is required’. This means that if, for example, you enter data into a comment field, we will hold that data for as long as that page is live and of use to other site members. Other data will be deleted as quickly as possible when it is no longer needed, so for example, if you delete your account, all your data will be removed immediately. In the case of backups, this will take longer but the removal is usually complete after the next full backup which replaces all the site content with the latest current content. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. There is a fee for this which is currently £45. If you request a data file, we will send it by email to the address given in your account.

18. How we protect your data
We protect your data by using the latest security technology available to us to try to thwart unlawful logins and hacking attempts to the site. We run a firewall on the server and carry out regular backups which are stored safely and in an independent location as required by the Data Protection Act 1998 and the EU Data Protection Directive of 1995 for the safety, protection, processing and movement of data.

24. What am I allowed to do with other user’s personal information?
Use it to meet new friends and make new contacts but you should beware that you may not use other members information for commercial purposes, to spam, to harass, or to make unlawful threats. dreamdateuk.co.uk reserves the right to terminate the accounts of those who misuse other members information.

25. What information does dreamdateuk.co.uk collect about my friends and contacts?
You can invite your friends to join dreamdateuk.co.uk so they can enjoy the benefits of the site. If you want to invite your friends and contacts we will send an email invitation from dreamdateuk.co.uk in your name or you can send an SMS (if you use our Android or iPhone app). If any of the individuals you have invited do not register within a few days, dreamdateuk.co.uk may occasionally send reminder emails on your behalf to those individuals. You can choose to invite all your friends or only a select few by simply un-ticking the names of those friends you do not wish to invite, but please remember you must not invite anyone under the age of 18! This is strict and we implement a zero tolerance policy on this. Also be aware that ‘you’ are responsible for ensuring that your friend has agreed to receiving a dreamdateuk.co.uk invite. When you import your contacts, we store their name and email address or their mobile number so that we can automatically connect you and your friend. dreamdateuk.co.uk does not sell these email addresses or mobile numbers or use them to send any other communication besides email invitations. The friend may contact dreamdateuk.co.uk to request the removal of their information from our database by clicking Contact us. Any such request will only apply to addresses or mobile numbers we have at the time of the request and not to any addresses that the member/user provides to us later.

26. Does dreamdateuk.co.uk sell my information to other parties?
No! We do not sell or rent out any personal information about you to any third party. dreamdateuk.co.uk discloses aggregated non-personal data for marketing and promotional purposes. That means we do not disclose any information that could be used to identify you. dreamdateuk.co.uk is a UK website for UK residents and is operating through several servers located in London. Backups are stored in the London area at other various locations in keeping with the Data Protection Act.

We have implemented a number of measures and appropriate security features to protect and prevent the loss, misuse, and alteration of any data under our control. dreamdateuk.co.uk uses all reasonable security measures to safeguard the confidentiality of your information such as using the latest secured servers, firewalls, anti hacking, virus and malware software. 29. Can I deactivate or delete my Profile myself? … Yes, of course!
Members of the site have 2 choices to delete their profile. Either send us a message via any of the contact pages or forms or simply sign in and delete your profile. To prevent abuse and/or misuse of dreamdateuk.co.uk by any member following termination or deletion of a profile/account we shall retain such information as we deem in our sole discretion may be necessary to ensure that user does not open a new account and profile in breach of our Terms of Use and to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. After you remove information from your profile or delete your account, copies of some of that information may still be viewable and/or accessed on the internet to the extent such information has been previously shared with others, or copied or stored by other users or to the extent such information has been shared with search engines. We cannot control this, nor do we accept any liability for it. If you have given third party applications or websites access to your personal information they may retain such information to the extent permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies.

30. What happens if I do nothing after becoming a member?
If you have not signed in to dreamdateuk.co.uk for three months, we may remove your profile as part of our data cleansing process. Your dreamdateuk.co.uk account is non-transferable and any rights to your profile or contents within your account will be cancelled upon your death.

31. Can I decline Cookies? … Yes, of course!
We make this as easy as possible. People don’t want to have to spend ages looking in various files, going through a selection of tick boxes, or agreeing to multiple policies just to decline cookies. At dreamdateuk.co.uk we include the Cookie bar at the bottom of every page. If you want to decline cookies simply click on the ‘Decline’ button and its done! 32. Facebook login button access
If you log in to any of the dreamdateuk categories using a Facebook login button, we will hold certain data about you (needed for your login). You can cancel this type of access at any time by going to your account settings in Facebook and cancelling the app access. You can also contact us on any of our contact pages and let us know that you need your access data removing.

This data is limited to the email address and the profile data of the Facebook account. When you join dreamdateuk you may also need to enter additional details into the Join form which might not available from your Facebook profile such as your date of birth, gender etc.

You will also have to enter a password which you will use for your dreamdateuk login and tick the acceptance box agreeing to our terms and conditions. You have the option of setting up your device to ‘remember’ your password and this is your choice of whether to set up this feature or not. If you don’t you will have to remember your password for each time you log in.

Facebook requires that we provide you with a users data deletion feature. To delete your access to our site follow these settings:

There is no specific format, simply email us asking us to delete any data we have on your profile in connection with your login. This section sets out our policy for responding to requests for deletion of data under UK data protection law.

This document explains the rights of the data subject in relation to data deletion and the responsibilities of dreamdateuk in responding with such a request.

Individual Rights

An individual has the right to erasure, also known as ‘the right to be forgotten’. The principle underpinning this right is to enable an individual to request the deletion or removal of personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.

When does the right to erasure apply?

As stipulated in UK data protection law, individuals have a right to have personal data erased and to prevent processing in specific circumstances:

  • Where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected/processed.
  • When the individual withdraws consent.
  • When the individual objects to the processing and there is no other legal ground for the relevant
    processing activity.
  • When the personal data was unlawfully processed.
  • Where the personal data has to be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation.

What information does dreamdateuk retain?

When any data access feature is active, dreamdateuk retains any information supplied from that source. This will typically include data such as name, email address, gender etc.

When a data access feature has been cancelled dreamdateuk retain no data.

34. Security software

Our website uses the specialist security software; ‘undefined menu title’. This helps to ensure data breaches do not occur and our website and data are protected against hacking attempts and intrusion. The undefined menu title and cookies

  1. The undefined menu title software never stores any sensitive, personally identifiable information in any cookie at any time.
  2. In the case that the undefined menu title software needs to redirect a visitor or any request, it may use a cookie to prevent repeated/infinite redirect loops.
  3. For registered/logged-in users, the undefined menu title software uses a cookie to track user sessions and control display of certain in-plugin admin notices.
  4. The undefined menu title software does not normally use Cookies for unregistered site visitors. It may however use a cookie to register the closure of the undefined menu title security badge to prevent repeated display.

Data Storage: User Sessions

For logged-in users, the undefined menu title software stores information on the username, the IP address and the time of last login and last activity.

This information is purged upon logout or data cleanup.

Data Storage: Audit Trail

The undefined menu title software has an Audit Trail feature that will log the following information:

  1. Audit Trail message that may include email addresses
  2. Logged-in username (where applicable)
  3. Originating IP address of the request

For logged-in users this represents information that may be used to locate (by IP address) and identify individuals and their activity on the site.

This information is stored for security purposes by the site administrator.

This data will be retained and then automatically purged from the database after a fixed time period, as determined by the site administrator. (Currently this is set to 7 days.)

35. Your right to access your personal information
As mentioned above, the Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Any access request may be subject to a fee (currently £45) to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you. You can request a copy of all the information we hold about you by contacting us on any of our contact pages. We reserve the right to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data based on the exemptions set out in the Data Protection Act 1998 but if we do refuse we will give full reasons for our refusal and allow you to challenge our decision.
